The Minnesota Wilderness scored three first-period goals and held off the Austin Bruins 4-2 in a North American Hockey League game Friday night in Cloquet.

Jacob Herter of Hermantown, Ethan Wolthers and Mikol Sartor gave the Wilderness an early 3-0 lead and Gavin Rasmussen staved off an Austin comeback with an empty-net goal with 8 seconds to play.

Wilderness goaltender Kaleb Johnson stopped 34 shots for the win.

The teams will meet again Saturday night in Austin.
