Senior forward Megan Dulong had a pair of goals as Wisconsin-Superior overcame an early deficit with five unanswered goals in a 5-1 victory over Northland in their women’s hockey exhibition opener Tuesday before no fans at Wessman Arena with COVID-19 restrictions in place.

After Zoe Chadwick gave Northland the early lead with a goal at 6:25 in the first period, Dulong knotted it 1-1 at 15:38 in the second with an unassisted goal.

Dulong, of Grand Rapids, then gave the Yellowjackets a 2-1 lead on an assist from Andrea Stelling at 4:30 in the third. That stood as the game-winner at it sparked UWS to four goals in the third period to put the game away.

McKenzie Whalen and Rose Beeman combined on 15 saves for the Yellowjackets while Northland goalie Teagan Johnson had 18 saves to keep UWS at bay in the first period before yielding to Soleil Archambeault for the final two periods.
