The Iowa Wild announced the signing of Duluth native Phil Beaulieu on Wednesday to a one-year, two-way minor league contract.

The Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League are the top minor-league affiliate of the NHL's Minnesota Wild. The organization also has an affiliation with the Allen (Texas) Americans of the ECHL.

A former standout defenseman at Duluth East High School, the 24-year-old Beaulieu just wrapped up a four-year college career at Northern Michigan. He was a second-team American Hockey Coaches Association All-American as a sophomore in 2017-18 and the WCHA Defenseman of the Year as a junior in 2018-19. His 121 career points in 158 games is fourth all-time among NMU defensemen and the 95 assists he posted in WCHA play is the most since the league underwent major realignment after the 2012-13 season.

In addition to Beaulieu, the Iowa Wild also announced the signing of forward Kameron Kielly, forward Jesse Mychan and forward Josh Maser on Wednesday.
