Wisconsin-Superior advanced to the championship game of its own tournament with a 2-1 win over the Tufts Jumbos Saturday at Wessman Arena.

The Yellowjackets will play Marian in the championship game of the 3rd annual Superior Shootout Classic at 7:05 p.m. Sunday. Marian (8-4) got a pair of goals from Gianni Vitali in a 5-2 win over Bethel.

Both Yellowjacket goals came in the first period. Andrew Durham scored with help from Liam Blais on the power play at 2:44, and Troy York scored with helpers from Coltyn Bates and Blais at 10:39.

Tufts cut the lead in half on Nick Schultze’s power-play goal 5:56 into the second period.

Oscar Svensson had 21 saves for UWS (9-2) and Drew Hotte stopped 35 shots for Tufts (3-7), which is located in Medford, Mass.
