A goalie duel ended when Wisconsin-Superior scored early in the third period and the Yellowjackets defeated St. Scholastica 2-0 on Tuesday at Mars Lakeview Arena in Duluth.

UWS goalie Catherine Johnson turned away 20 shots to notch the shutout. CSS goalie Lexi Thomeczek was nearly as good, stopping 26 shots.

After two scoreless periods, the Yellowjackets' C.C. Hayes scored at 1:11 of the third period on assists from Jenna Curtis and Megan Dulong. That the was extent of the scoring until UWS' Kaleigh Martinson scored at 19:43 on an assist from Amber Heidenreich.

UWS (5-1-1) plays host to St. Catherine at 7 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday at Wessman Arena. The Saints (4-6-0) are off for a month, playing next against Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Jan. 10-11 at Mars Lakeview.
