One week after sweeping Minnesota State-Mankato at home to open WCHA play, No. 8 Minnesota Duluth found itself getting swept on the road by Bemidji State 2-1 on Saturday in conference play at Sanford Center.

Bulldogs sophomore center Gabbie Hughes was missing from the lineup Saturday for the series finale. She and senior wing Sydney Brodt share the team lead in scoring with four goals and five assists.

Sophomore forward Anneke Linser tallied the Bulldogs' (3-3 overall, 2-2 WCHA) lone goal of the game unassisted 5:31 into the third period. The first goal of the season for Linser, she's just the seventh UMD goal scorer now for UMD through six games.

Senior forward Haley Mack scored both the Beavers' (3-2-1, 2-0) goals in the second period to put the Bulldogs down 2-0. The fifth and sixth goals of the season for Mack came just over four minutes apart with the first coming on the power play.

Mack's power play goal came on the Beavers' lone advantage of the afternoon. The Bulldogs finished 0-for-3 on the power play.

UMD senior goaltender Maddie Rooney finished with 23 saves on 25 shots while junior goalie Lauren Bench stopped 28 shots for Bemidji State.

UMD is on the road next weekend at the IceBreaker tournament in Buffalo, N.Y. The Bulldogs open against Mercyhurst on Friday before taking on either Colgate or UConn on Saturday.
