Minnesota Duluth senior goaltender Hunter Shepard is a two-time national champion with an 8-0 record in NCAA tournament games. He's an All-American and the reigning NCHC Goaltender of the Year.

So to this day, does the Cohasset native still have a chip on his shoulder?

“Yeah, sure if that’s what you want to say," Shepard said. "Yeah, I just kind of want to prove people wrong. It’s still what makes me competitive to this day. There is always somebody out there that’s going to doubt you and that’s kind of what fuels me I guess.”

Shepard joined News Tribune college hockey reporter Matt Wellens and My9 Sports commentator Zach Schneider this week on the Bulldog Insider Podcast to recap the summer and offer some predictions heading into the 2019-20 UMD men's hockey season. They also talked some hunting and fishing.

Produced by the News Tribune’s Samantha Erkkila, who also serves as the outdoors expert on the podcast, new episodes of Bulldog Insider are released every Thursday throughout the season.
