College men's hockey: UMD moves up to No. 3 in poll
A weekend split with NCHC rival Denver had Minnesota Duluth up one spot in Monday's USCHO.com Division I poll, from No. 4 to No. 3.
The Bulldogs (18-8-2), who have won six of their past eight games, downed the Pioneers 5-2 on Friday night before being blanked 1-0 on Saturday. They were among four NCHC teams ranked in the top-20 poll, joining No. 1 St. Cloud State, No. 7 Denver and eighth-ranked Western Michigan. St. Cloud occupied the top spot for the fifth straight week. Right behind UMD is Minnesota State-Mankato, meaning three of Minnesota's five Division I clubs appear in the top four.
The Bulldogs play at North Dakota this weekend.
• UMD on Monday added Alberta Junior League standout Quinn Olson to its 2019-20 recruiting class. Olson, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound forward from Calgary, has starred for the Okotoks Oilers the past two seasons. This winter, he has 20 goals and 41 assists.
