Women's hockey: Canada defeats Team USA

Canada defeated the U.S. Women's National Team 2-0 on Sunday at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit in the final game of the 2019 Rivalry Series.

Canada won two of the three games in the series.

Canada struck first at the 5:40 mark of the opening period when a Brianne Jenner shot from the point snuck past screened U.S. goaltender Alex Rigsby.

Canada scored again when Laura Stacey connected with Blayre Turnbull, who was streaking to the net and deflected the pass over the glove of Rigsby.

Former Minnesota Duluth defenseman Sidney Morin plays for the U.S. team, while ex-UMD players Jocelyn Larocque and Brigette Lacquette play for Canada.
