College women's hockey: Saints earn crucial NCHA win
Taylor Thompson's 10th goal of the season 13:12 into the third period gave St. Scholastica a 1-0 victory over Lake Forest College on Friday at Mars Lakeview Arena, boosting the Saints into the No. 2 seed for the upcoming NCHA playoffs.
Lexi Thomeczek saved all 37 shots she faced to earn the shutout for the Saints (17-6-1 overall, 14-3 NCHA).
Jacque Rogers stopped 24 shots for the Foresters (14-5-5, 11-2-4), who dropped to third in the standings.
The teams close the regular season against each other tonight at Mars Lakeview.
• Wisconsin-Superior skated to a 2-2 overtime tie with Stevens Point at Ice Hawks Arena in Stevens Point despite building a 2-0 lead early in the second period.
Rachel Garland and Jenna Curtis put UWS (7-16-2, 0-7-2 WIAC) ahead 2-0 before the Pointers (8-13-1, 1-6-2) tied it with second-period goals by Cara Lemirande and Alana Achterkirch.
McKenzie Whalen finished with 29 saves for UWS, while Sydney Conley stopped 36 shots for Stevens Point.
