College men's hockey: UMD retains No. 4 ranking
Minnesota Duluth stayed put at No. 4 in Monday's USCHO.com Division I men's hockey poll following a weekend loss and tie at Western Michigan.
UMD (10-4-2) lost the opener of its NCHC series Friday when the Broncos scored with nine seconds remaining in regulation to win 3-2. Saturday, Western Michigan, which went from unranked to No. 17, won in the third round of a shootout to earn an extra point in the conference standings.
The Bulldogs are idle until the Dec. 28-29 Desert Hockey Classic in Glendale, Ariz. They were among six NCHC teams ranked in the top 20, with St. Cloud State regaining the No. 1 spot. Denver is ranked eighth, North Dakota 13th and Miami 16th.
• After pushing its winning streak to six games, St. Scholastica climbed to No. 10 in the USCHO.com Division III men's poll. The Saints, who defeated Gustavus Adolphus on Friday night and St. John's on Saturday, had been ranked 15th.
