Adam hired as NCHC director of officiating
Don Adam of Denver, a Western Collegiate Hockey Association on-ice official for 24 years, was named director of officiating for the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, which begins play in 2013-14. The hiring was announced Thursday by NCHC commissioner Jim Scherr.
Adam, 47, has also worked in two Winter Olympics, five World Championships and in the NHL. He also was the director of officiating for the West Coast Hockey League and Roller Hockey International, and was a supervisor of officials for USA Hockey's Officials Development Program.
Adam will work in the WCHA in 2012-13 under supervisor Greg Shepherd. He's also been a police officer in Louisville, Colo., the past nine years. The NCHC is based in Colorado Springs, Colo.
"Don brings a proven level of on-ice and supervisory officiating expertise and his long-term commitment to the college game is invaluable to our goals," Scherr said in a statement.

NCHC members are Minnesota Duluth, North Dakota, St. Cloud State, Denver, Colorado College, Nebraska-Omaha, Western Michigan and Miami of Ohio.
