The former Hawks star was named the team's top first-year and most-improved player.

St. Cloud State freshman forward Drew LeBlanc, who helped lead Hermantown to an undefeated and Class A championship season as a junior in 2006-07, was co-recipient of the Roland Vandell Award as the top first-year player on the men's hockey team for the 2008-09 season.

Freshman forward Jared Festler of Little Falls, Minn., was the other co-recipient.

LeBlanc also received the William Radovich Award as the team's most-improved player, picking up 11 of his 15 points in the final 15 games of the season.

The Huskies were 18-17-3 overall and 13-13-2 in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association in 2008-09.
