College golf: CSS women repeat champions

For the third consecutive year, the St. Scholastica women captured the Viking Invite title on Saturday at the Oakdale Golf Club in Buffalo Lake, Minn.

The Saints totaled 742 strokes to defeat runner-up Wisconsin-Superior by 42 shots.

The Yellowjackets' Alayna Tulip was medalist with a 36-over 179 total. The Saints' top golfer was sophomore Kristen Lilya, who finished fourth.

The UWS men were second, posting a 639 total to finish 17 strokes behind champion Northwestern. St. Scholastica was third at 645.

Northwestern's Michael Vowels was medalist with a 5-over 148.

The Saints women are seeking a third consecutive UMAC title beginning Thursday at Pebble Creek Golf Course in Becker, Minn. The CSS men also are defending champions.
