College men's golf: Saints miss cut at NCAA championship
St. Scholastica failed to make the cut after Day 2 of the NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship at Grandover Resort in Greensboro, N.C., finishing 41st out of 42 teams following Wednesday's second round.
Spencer Viita of Cook led the Saints in the second round with a 7-over-par 79. He shot an 80 in the first round, which concluded on Wednesday morning after storms halted play on Tuesday.
Anthony Ahrens of Virginia carded the Saints low first-round score with a 6-over 78. He shot an 89 in the second round, when the Saints as a team were 14 shots worse compared to the first. CSS was 39th after the opening round.
Co-host Guilford College leads the 18 remaining schools with a 2-over 578. Austin Wells of Otterbein leads all individuals at 5-under.
