Kolquist, Moline gain Northland quarterfinals
Medalist Alex Kolquist of Hermantown and three-time defending champion Dan Moline of Duluth won twice Friday to advance to the quarterfinals of the 87th Northland Invitational men's match-play tournament at Northland Country Club.
Moline next faces Andrew Krasaway of Hermantown at 1:30 p.m. today, while Kolquist meets Cordell Mack of Chaska, Minn. The other quarterfinal pairings have Phil Ebner of Minneapolis against Dave Steingart of Edina, Minn., and Jordan Hawkinson of Grant, Minn., playing Alex Williamson.
In Friday's matches, Moline defeated Cory Fairchild and Craig Hanson 5 and 4. Kolquist eliminated Gregg McCall 6 and 4 and Taylor Sundbom 2 and 1.
The semifinals are 8 a.m. Sunday followed by a championship match at 1:30 p.m.
