Senior forward Allison Luoma’s layup with 0.9 of a second left lifted Northwestern to a 69-67 victory over fourth-ranked St. Croix Falls in girls basketball Tuesday, Dec. 15, in Maple.
Sophomore guard Tieryn Plasch had 27 points to lead the Tigers (3-1) and also assisted on Luoma’s game-winning basket with a terrific assist in the lane. Luoma (14 points), Gabby Risley (14) and Kendall Sletten (10) also reached double figures in scoring in a tight game throughout.

Emily McCurdy had 22 points and Brianna McCurdy 16 to lead St. Croix Falls (2-1), ranked No. 4 in Wisconsin Division 3. The victory was some measure of payback for Northwestern, which was knocked out of the playoffs by the Saints last year.
