Fritch family donates $1.9 million to Heritage Center Foundation
The Herb Fritch Family Foundation donated $1.9 million to the Duluth Heritage Sports Center Foundation, chairman Pat Francisco announced Monday. That is in addition to the $1 million gift Fritch gave in 2010, Francisco said.
Fritch, who grew up in Duluth but lives in Nashville, Tenn., became a pioneer in the health insurance industry, creating and guiding a number of successful ventures. He is majority owner of the Nashville Predators. Fritch's 96-year-old mother, Marion, his brother, Gary, and sister-in-law, Bonnie, live in Duluth. His father, Howard, coached the 1963 Central Little League team that finished third in the Little League World Series.
"I credit much of my success in business today to the leadership skills developed on the playgrounds, baseball fields and gymnasiums of Duluth," Fritch said in a statement. "It is a privilege to help make those opportunities and support available to present and future generations of Duluth's children."
