Former Minnesota Duluth defenseman Trent Palm of Edina, Minn., has signed a contract with the Chicago Express of the East Coast Hockey League, an affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets.
Palm, 23, played in 125 games for UMD over five seasons and returned to the lineup in 2010-11 following surgery for hip and abdomen problems. Last season he played in 28 games and finished his career with three goals and 17 assists.
