Former International Falls goalie Mike "Lefty" Curran has been voted No. 45 on the Minnesota Hockey Hub Top 100 list of the state's top high school boys players.
Curran, 67, helped International Falls to the 1962 state high school championship recording two shutouts in three games. At the University of North Dakota, from 1965-68, he was 54-28-4. He was the MVP of the U.S. team that earned a silver medal at the 1972 Winter Games in Sapporo, Japan, and went on to play five years for the Minnesota Fighting Saints of the World Hockey League.
Joe Micheletti, 56, a former Hibbing defenseman, was voted at No. 46 by Hockey Hub. He had two hat tricks in three state tournament games in 1973 on the way to the state championship. At the University of Minnesota, from 1973-77, he had 106 points in 135 games. In 158 NHL games he had 71 points from 1979-82.
