Derek Forbort, a former Duluth East defenseman, was one of four new players named to the United States Under-18 national team's 22-player roster for 2009-10.
Forbort, who will spend his senior year in Ann Arbor, Mich., at the U.S. National Development Program, was a member of the U.S. Under-17 team during the 2009 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Port Alberni, British Columbia.
The 6-foot-5 Forbort plans to play NCAA Division I college hockey at North Dakota at the start of the 2010-11 season.
Other new players include goaltender Andy Iles (Itaca, N.Y.) and forwards Bill Arnold (Needham, Mass.) and Brandon Saad (Gibsonia, Pa.).
The Under-18 team opens its season against the University of Waterloo (Ontario) in Ann Arbor on Sept. 18.
