The slate of Northland high school football games for Week 4 is now smaller by three games after several cancellations were confirmed on Thursday, Sept. 23, 2021.

The Proctor home game vs. Aitkin scheduled for Friday has now been officially canceled, according to the Lake Superior Conference website. The Rails suspended football activities earlier this week amid an investigation into 'student misconduct.'

Northwestern received word on Wednesday that Chetek-Weyerhauser has forfeited its scheduled game, which was scheduled to be the Tigers' homecoming.

On Thursday, Moose Lake-Willow River announced it would not be playing Crosby-Ironton on Friday due to a positive COVID-19 test on the roster and insufficient time to clear district COVID-19 athletic protocols. The teams had originally attempted to reschedule for Saturday but the Rangers found the date unworkable and had their own protocol issues. The game will be a no contest.
