College football: UMD's Juneau named All-American
Minnesota Duluth senior offensive tackle Matt Juneau was named Wednesday to the American Football Coaches Association Division II All-America second team.
Juneau, a native of Brooklyn Park, Minn., became just the third Bulldogs offensive lineman to ever earn a All-Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference citation four years in a row (first team in 2018, second team in 2015 and 2016 and honorable mention in 2017). He made 44 consecutive starts, a run that dated to his rookie season. As a senior, he anchored an offensive line that helped the Bulldogs roll up the ninth most points (43.0 per game) of any NCAA Division II club during the regular season.
Juneau is the seventh UMD player to attain All-America recognition over the past 11 seasons. Offensive tackle Peter Bateman (2016), offensive guard Andrew Muer (2014), linebacker Colby Ring (2013), offensive guard Garth Heikkinen (2012 and 2011), running back Isaac Odim (2009) and quarterback Ted Schlafke (2008) are the others.
