The last finishers in the 14th annual Arrowhead 135 endurance race from International Falls to Tower reached Fortune Bay Casino on Wednesday night after more than two days on the trail.

The 135-mile race for runners, bikers and cross-country skiers that began Monday morning has a reputation for sometimes seeing more competitors drop out than finish the race. But despite temperatures well below zero at times, 100 of this year's field of 149 racers - about 67 percent - reached the finish ahead of the mandatory 60-hour cutoff, according to the race website.

Jay Petervary of Idaho was the first finisher, riding his bike to a time of 13 hours, 16 minutes - just one minute off the race record set last year.

Other top finishers:

Biking: Svetlana Vold of Minnesota was the top women's finisher in 24 hours, 36 minutes. Helen Scotch of Oregon became the first woman to complete the Arrowhead 135 running-biking-skiing triad, finishing her ride in 25 hours, 56 minutes after previously successfully skiing and running the event.
