The St. Louis County Sheriff's Office is seeking information in a case where an Ely fisherman was hit by a bullet while in his fish house Thursday evening.
Ryan Byrnes, 18, was on Shagawa Lake near Ely when a .22 caliber bullet entered through the top of his fish house and struck him in the back of the head. The bullet did not penetrate into Byrnes' head, but did cause a minor wound that required medical attention.
Byrnes reported that he heard numerous shots fired along the north side of the lake immediately prior to being shot around 6:21 p.m. Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to call the sheriff's office at (218) 749-6010.
