Ely defeated Taconite 3-2 and 7-1 Sunday to claim the American Legion District 8, Division II Tournament held in Ely.
Greg Helget was the winning pitcher in both games as Ely improved to 27-7 and advanced to next weekend's state tourney in Sacred Heart, Minn.
