A man running from the Canadian border to the Gulf of Mexico in honor of military members serving in Afghanistan will make a stop in Eveleth on Aug. 28.
Mike Ehredt of Hope, Idaho, plants a flag inscribed with the name of a fallen U.S. soldier at each mile, called Project America Run. He will spend one night of his 79-night journey in Eveleth, according to Kristen Turk of the Eveleth Super 8, where Ehredt will stay. He's expected to arrive about 2 p.m. with his cartful of flags. His route will take him through Wisconsin, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas.
In 2010, Ehredt completed a cross-country run for those who died in Iraq.
