Duluth's Eyer returns to pro boxing

Duluth boxer Gary "Stone Cold" Eyer returns after more than a year layoff to be the main event at the Welcome to the Jungle II professional boxing card Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. at Black Bear Casino Resort in Carlton.

Since his layoff, Eyer joined the National Guard. He will be joined on the card by Duluth boxer "The Haitian Temptation" Al Sands. Fight details are still being finalized. Tickets are $20-$75 and are available at ticketfly.com , Black Bear Casino Resort or by calling (877) 435-9849.

  • Duluth boxer R.J. Laase (9-1) will fight James Wayka (16-11-1) in the co-main event of a boxing card on Oct. 12 at Grand Casino Hinckley.
  • The 2012 Minnesota Boxing Hall of Fame induction is 7 p.m. at Mystic Lake Casino in Prior Lake, Minn. Inductees are former boxers Oscar Gardner, Jimmy Delaney, Billy Miske, Lee Savold, Jerry Slavin, Jim Beattie, longtime Minneapolis Tribune reporter Dick Cullum and veteran St. Paul referee and judge Denny Nelson.
