The 108th North Western International Rowing Association Championship Regatta is Friday-Saturday at the Duluth Rowing Club on Park Point.
The regatta consists of 52 final races -- 28 Friday and 24 Saturday. Racers participate in junior, open and master levels in singles, doubles and quad events, most of which are 2,000 meters long.
Ten rowing clubs from two states and three provinces will attend, bringing about 350 rowers to the event. Duluth last hosted the championships in 2006, and the Duluth Rowing Club last lifted the Sir Thomas Lipton Cup that goes to the overall winner in 1925.
Plans are to hold the races on the harbor, however wind conditions may require the races to be held on Lake Superior. The public is encouraged to attend.
