Duluth Marshall has tall task at tennis state tournament

Duluth Marshall faces top-ranked Breck of Golden Valley, Minn., at 8 a.m. today in the Minnesota Class A high school boys team quarterfinals at the Reed-Sweatt Family Tennis Center in Minneapolis.

No. 15-ranked Marshall (14-4) is making its first appearance in four years. Breck is the defending champion.

The Class A and Class AA team tournaments conclude Wednesday. The individual singles and doubles tournaments are Thursday and Friday.

Marshall senior Joey Kronzer and Cook County senior David Bergstrom qualified for the Class A singles tournament, and Virginia seniors Blair Seitz and Marc Krebsbach qualified in doubles.

Section 7AA singles champion Dusty Boyer of Forest Lake is seeking a record fourth straight state title.
