Drag racing: Line moves into NHRA Pro Stock points lead

Despite losing in the semifinals of Sunday’s National Hot Rod Association Gatornationals at Gainesville, Florida, Wright native Jason Line moved into the lead of the season-long Pro Stock point standings.

Line, in his final season of NHRA competition before retiring, lost to Aaron Stanfield in the semifinal round in elapsed time (6.634 seconds to 6.659) and speed (206.54 mph to 196.85) but a quarterfinal victory over points leader Erica Enders was enough to vault Line into the top spot with 515 points, two more than Enders.

Duluthian Greg Anderson lost in the first round and is in sixth overall with 323 points.

There are four more NHRA events this season, including this weekend in St. Louis
