Duluthian Greg Anderson will compete against Warren Johnson in a best-of-three match race of two of the National Hot Rod Association Pro Stock legends at the U.S. Nationals on Aug. 31-Sept. 1 in Indianapolis.
Anderson is four wins shy of the record 97 races won by Johnson, known as the "Professor," and recently claimed back-to-back Pro Stock wins on the NHRA's western circuit.
"I definitely went to the Professor's school, no question about it," Anderson said in a news release. "But being his student for so many years means I learned all the good things to do as well as what not to do. I'll be ready for him in Indy."
Combined, the men have won 10 Pro Stock national championships. They will reveal a special logo to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Pro Stock division prior to their first race.
Before the match race, however, Anderson will compete in the Lucas Oil Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway from Aug. 15-18.
