Curling: Duluth curler wins gold

Duluth's Lexi Lanigan earned a gold medal and a trip to Switzerland as Hunter Clawson's Team Minnesota edged Greg Persinger's Team Alaska 4-3 on Saturday in the final of the USA Curling Mixed National Championship in Williston, N.D.

Duluth's Lexi Lanigan earned a gold medal and a trip to Switzerland as Hunter Clawson's Team Minnesota edged Greg Persinger's Team Alaska 4-3 on Saturday in the final of the USA Curling Mixed National Championship in Williston, N.D.

Minnesota scored two points in the eighth and final end to secure the title and a berth in the World Mixed Championship next October in Champery, Switzerland.

The Alaska team included Duluthian Quinn Evenson, now competing out of Fairbanks, Alaska.
