Randy Myhre resigned Thursday as women's basketball coach at Lake Superior College, which is set to begin play next season.
Adam Johnson, the girls coach at Duluth Marshall the past two seasons, is expected to take the IceHawks' helm.
Myhre, who posted a career record of 626-165 while leading the Barnum girls team from 1978-2011 - the Bombers won a Class A state title in 2010 - said he needs to focus on taking care of his parents, whose health is in decline. Thus, he and his wife, Julie, will move from Duluth to the Barnum/Moose Lake area.
"We have to take care of those who took care of us," Myhre said. "It's just something I have to do. We're going to go where we're needed."
Myhre was excited to help launch the LSC program.

"It was an opportunity to make some history here," he said.
Johnson, the dean of students, athletic director and baseball coach at Floodwood before coming to Marshall, led the resurgent Hilltoppers to a combined 43-12 mark the past two years.
