Minnesota Duluth announced Wednesday it will induct four former athletes into the UMD Athletic Hall of Fame in February.
Two-time NCAA Division II volleyball player of the year Vicky (Braegelmann) Goesser, three-time all-conference soccer honoree Beth Byers-Koehnen, All-America hockey defenseman Mike DeAngelis and men's tennis standout Chris Janowiec will be inducted at an afternoon banquet Feb. 16, 2019, at the Holiday Inn and Suite's Lake Superior Ballroom in downtown Duluth.
Goeser ended her career in 2007 by earning a second consecutive American Volleyball Coaches Association player of the year award and led UMD to a 114-16 record during her stay; Byers-Koehnen, the school's all-time career goal-scorer (41), was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association All-Region second team twice; DeAngelis competed in three Winter Olympics (1992, '94 and '98) for Italy and was a second-team All-American; and Janowiec posted an 85-24 career record, including 33-3 at singles in 1987.
