DECORAH, Iowa — Keegan Chastey scored for St. Scholastica early in the second half at Luther College, but that was about all the good news from an 8-1 nonconference loss.

Javier Pastor Vallis scored twice in the first half, but CSS appeared have a lifeline early in the second half when the Saints drew a penalty kick and Chastey converted it to make it 2-1. However, Luther scored seconds later to make it 3-1, and the Saints had a man sent off soon after the goal.

Pastor Valls scored the first Luther goal against the 10-man Scholastica squad and four more followed in the last 30 minutes.

St. Scholastica (4-6-2) returns to Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play at Hamline on Saturday afternoon.

Our newsroom occasionally reports stories under a byline of "staff." Often, the "staff" byline is used when rewriting basic news briefs that originate from official sources, such as a city press release about a road closure, and which require little or no reporting. At times, this byline is used when a news story includes numerous authors or when the story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If outside sources are used, it is noted within the story.
