Minnesota Duluth junior Emi Trost won her heat and qualified first in the women's mile run at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships on Thursday at Birmingham, Ala.
Trost was timed in 4 minutes, 46.53 seconds to earn top billing heading into Saturday's finals.
Trost also will run in today's distance medley relay final and will attempt the 3,000 meters shortly after her mile final Saturday.
