College women's tennis: Saints draw Gustavus in NCAAs

For the third consecutive year, the St. Scholastica women's tennis team will travel to Whitewater, Wis., to compete in the NCAA Division III tournament.

For the third consecutive year, the St. Scholastica women's tennis team will travel to Whitewater, Wis., to compete in the NCAA Division III tournament.

The Saints will play No. 28 Gustavus Adolphus College in Friday's first round at a time to be determined.

This marks the Saints' fourth consecutive and eighth overall NCAA berth, but the first time the school earned an automatic qualifier via winning the UMAC postseason championship. St. Scholastica rallied to defeat the University of Northwestern 5-4 on Friday.

Gustavus Adolphus won the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular-season and tournament championships.

The winner advances to face the winner of the match between Wisconsin-Whitewater and Concordia-Wisconsin.

The University of Chicago, Grinnell (Iowa) College and Coe (Iowa) College round out the seven-team regional.
