A pair of goals from Allison Alessi were decisive as Wisconsin-Superior edged St. Scholastica 2-1 in a nonconference Twin Ports women's soccer derby on Tuesday in Duluth.

Alessi put the visitors up with her goal in the 21st minute. Morgan Friday of Duluth equalized for CSS at the hour mark with the 80th goal of her collegiate career.

However, Alessi struck again just eight minutes later and this time the lead held up, winning UWS the first Golden Anchor Trophy.

Jenna Lang made five saves for the Yellowjackets (12-3), who beat the Saints in a regular-season contest for the first time. UWS, winners of 10 straight, hosts North Central on Friday at 1 p.m.

Taelynn Gittins made six saves for the Saints (3-9-3), who host Carleton in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Saturday.
