Minnesota Duluth faces a tall task in its NSIC tournament quarterfinal, taking on regular-season champion Minnesota State-Mankato at 1 p.m. today in Mankato.
The top-seeded Mavericks (15-2-1) edged Bemidji State by one point for the regular-season championship and defeated eighth-seeded UMD (10-5-3) in overtime on Sept. 16.
UMD forwards Skye Finley has seven goals this season and Destiny Schmitz has added six. Natalie St. Martin has a team-high nine assists, two shy of a single-season team record.
Jenny Hoerter leads Mankato with seven goals and Lauren Kizlik has six.
• St. Scholastica postponed its men's and women's UMAC semifinals to Thursday due to expected snowfall today. The Saints will play Minnesota-Morris in a women's semifinal at 11 a.m., followed by the men's semifinal vs. Minnesota-Morris at 1:30 p.m.
