The No. 8-ranked Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs finished 0-2 at the Central Missouri Season Opener, following up their 1-0 loss to Southwest Baptist on Friday with a 2-0 loss to host Central Missouri on Sunday in Warrensburg.
Central Missouri got on the board in the fifth minute and then added an insurance goal in the 76th minute. UMD senior goaltender Marissa Rosa, who got the start after sitting out the opener, stopped four of the six shots she faced from Central Missouri.
Bulldogs senior forward Maureen Stormont was held without a shot on goal for the first time since Sept. 8, 2013, when UMD fell 2-1 at North Dakota State.
The Bulldogs (0-2) head to Marquette, Mich. next weekend to face Northern Michigan at 3 p.m. on Friday before returning home to open Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play against St. Cloud State at 1 p.m. on Sunday at Malosky Stadium in Duluth.
’Jackets hand Minn.-Morris first win
Wisconsin-Superior fell to 0-4 on the season and handed Minnesota-Morris its first win of the season in four tries via a 4-0 loss on Sunday at the Spartan Sports Complex in Superior.
UM-Morris received two goals from Christina Mollan in the ninth and 57th minute while Justine Wolf assisted Molly Hancuh in the 12th minute and Emma LaChance in the 53rd minute.
Freshman goalkeeper Bailey Henderson finished with five saves for UW-Superior, which hosts Bethany Lutheran College at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
