Minnesota Duluth added seven high school seniors on part of national signing day on Wednesday: Shannon King, Holly Kaboord, Jenna Eichten, Haley Ford, Megan Vatne, Morgan Regnier and Mikayla Hughes.
King, a 5-foot-9 defender from Batavia, Ill., started the last three seasons and is an excellent student, planning to major in chemistry at UMD. Kaboord was a defender/midfielder for Oregon (Wis.) High School, helping the Panthers capture a state championship in 2014. Eichten, a 5-foot-3 center for Rosemount (Minn.) High School, started four seasons for the Irish. She earned all-state first team honors last fall after leading them to a runner-up finish in Class AA.
Ford, of Apple Valley, Minn., started three years for Eastview High School in Apple Valley, Minn. The midfielder/forward is also a standout in hockey. Vatne, a four-year starter at Andover, Minn., earned all-state honors after guiding the Huskies to a third-place finish at the state tournament.
Regnier was a four-year starter for Farmington (Minn.) High School and was a two-time captain. She played for the Dakota Rev alongside future Bulldogs Eichten and Ford. Hughes, a 5-foot-8 forward from Prior Lake, Minn., was a member of the Minnesota Thunder Academy in the Elite Clubs National League and was selected as the academy's U-16 most improved player.
