Minnesota Duluth opened its 2017 season with a 3-0 nonconference victory over Wisconsin-Parkside on Thursday afternoon at Malosky Stadium in Duluth, scoring all three goals in the second half.
Junior Natalie St. Martin and seniors Emily Fleissner of Duluth and Skye Finley scored for the Bulldogs with the strikes from St. Martin and Fleissner coming just under three minutes apart early in the second half.
St. Martin also had two assists in the win, as did sophomore Logan Nash. Senior Anna Morrison and junior Madison Carey each had a single assist for a UMD squad that put 11 shots on goal compared to the two posted by the Rangers.
Junior goalkeeper Sisley Ng made the two saves for the Bulldogs to earn her sixth collegiate shutout, while Adrianna Bartel finished with eight saves for Parkside.
The Bulldogs return to the pitch next weekend for a road trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula to play Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech.
