Minnesota Duluth senior defenseman Jessica Healey has signed a deal to play professionally in Sweden next season.

Healey, who just wrapped up a four-year career with the Bulldogs, will play for Jonkoping-based HV71 of the Swedish Women's Hockey League, the same team former UMD teammate Emma Stauber played for in 2015-16.

"It's one of the top leagues to play in after college hockey," Healey said. "I'm following some old teammates' footsteps and paths. They've had great times over there, so I think it's going to be an amazing experience. I'm excited."

Last year the SDHL featured five former Bulldogs. Sidney Morin and Michela Cava played for MODO, Lara Stalder and Pernilla Winberg were with Linkoping HC and Maria Lindh played for Djurgardens.

Healey, who is also part of Canada's National Women's Development Team, had a career year for the Bulldogs in 2017-18, scoring five goals and adding nine assists.
