Minnesota Duluth won its fourth straight game on Saturday, outshooting Minnesota State-Mankato 62-15 in a 3-0 WCHA victory at Amsoil Arena.
The Bulldogs (5-4-2 overall, 2-4-1 WCHA) outshot the Mavericks (0-6-1, 0-4-1) 28-0 in the third period as Mavericks goaltender Erin Krichiver finished with 59 saves in the losing effort. UMD junior goalie Kayla Black stopped all 15 shots she faced, with six coming in the first period and nine in the second period for her third shutout of the season.
Senior forward Jenna McParland scored in the final minute of the first period and 8:22 into the third period while senior forward Brienna Gillanders scored 5:59 into the second period. McParland’s second goal came on a 4-on-3 power play as UMD went 1-for-3 with an extra attacker.
Sophomore forward Ashleigh Brykaliuk, sophomore forward Katerina Mrazova, freshman forward Michelle Lowenhielm, senior forward Zoe Hickel and senior defenseman Brigette Lacquette had assists.
The Bulldogs and Mavericks meet again at 3:07 p.m. today at Amsoil Arena.
