Senior forward Lara Stalder scored three goals to lead sixth-ranked Minnesota Duluth to a 5-1 victory over Minnesota State-Mankato and a sweep of their WCHA women’s series Saturday at Amsoil Arena.
Stalder scored the first two goals of the game, 2 minutes and 51 seconds apart before the midway point of the first period. Katherine McGovern, who assisted on each of the first two goals, netted her third goal of the young season midway through the second period for a 3-0 lead.
Catherine Daoust expanded the lead with an unassisted goal 3:28 into the final period before former Grand Rapids-Greenway standout Jordan McLaughlin scored the only goal for the Mavericks (2-2 overall, 0-2 WCHA) with 4:08 to play.
With the outcome already in hand, Stalder completed her hat trick with 11 seconds remaining to give her four goals this season.
Goalkeeper Maddie Rooney made eight saves in each period for a total of 24 as the Bulldogs (3-0-1, 2-0) remained unbeaten.
Brianna Quade had 35 stops for Mankato.
