College women’s hockey: Saints sweep Marian to start season

After scoring twice Friday against Marian, St. Scholastica senior forward Nina Waidacher added two more goals to her stat sheet Saturday in the Saints’ 4-1 NCHA victory over the Sabres at Mars Lakeview Arena.
Freshman forward Abby Sawyer in the first period and sophomore forward Sierra Hanowski in the second period both scored their second goals of the opening weekend while Waidacher, who also had an assist, scored both of her goals in the third period.
Freshman goaltender Kristen Hunt finished with 16 saves for the Saints, who outshot the Sabres 54-17.
