Brianna Buchanan scored unassisted on the power play at 5:13 in double overtime as sixth-ranked Adrian won its fourth straight NCHA Slaats Cup championship with a 3-2 victory over St. Scholastica today before 526 in Adrian, Mich.

After Adrian junior Jacqueline White and St. Scholastica senior Alexia Klass exchanged goals in the second period, Buchanan put the Bulldogs up 2-1 with her first goal of the game at 9:47 in the third. Klaas, however, wasn't to be outdone as the Duluth Denfeld product scored on the power play at 14:34 in the third to force overtime while becoming the fifth player in program history to record 80 points in a career.

It wasn't enough as Buchanan's second goal ended the Saints' program-record winning streak at 11 games.

Denisa Jandova stopped 32 shots for top-seeded Adrian (22-4-2), while Lexi Thomeczek stopped 40 shots for second-seeded St. Scholastica (21-7-1), which was making its first NCHA championship game appearance.

The Saints' Thomeczek (St. Louis, Mo.) Rachel Anderson (Shoreview, Minn.) and Greta Nundahl (New Brighton, Minn.) were named to the all-tournament team. They find out Monday if they made the NCAA Division III tournament field.
