Jessica VonRuden’s goal 17 minutes into the second period on an assist from Annika Hanson stood as the game-winner as Adrian won its sixth straight NCHA Slaats Cup Championship with a 3-2 victory over St. Scholastica 3-2 Saturday at Mars Lakeview Arena in Duluth.

Adrian took the series 2-0 after downing CSS 3-0 Friday night. Saturday marked St. Scholastica’s final game as part of the NCHA.

After VonRuden gave Adrian a 3-1 lead, St. Scholastica trimmed the margin to 3-2 just 51 seconds into the third period as Abby Pohlkamp scored on assists from Mariah Haedrich and Ali Ratzloff.

But the Saints would get no closer as Denisa Jandova, a junior from the Czech Republic, had seven of her 29 saves in the third period for the Bulldogs (20-0-1).

Senior goalie Lori Huseby of Babbitt had 36 saves to lead CSS (14-2), while Haedrich, a junior from Hermantown, finished with eight points in five postseason games.
