UMD placed three runners among the top five Saturday en route to capturing the St. Olaf College Invitational championship for the second straight year in Northfield, Minn. The Bulldogs compiled a team score of 35 points while Carleton College was second with 51 points in the 16-school meet.
All-American Samantha Rivard took individual honors by finishing the 6-kilometer run in 21 minutes, 35.6 seconds and shattering the previous meet record in the process (held by former UMD standout Morgan Place). Fellow sophomore Breanna Colbenson took second overall (21:51.9) and was followed by freshman Emi Trost (fifth in 22:23.7).
UMD will be in Falcon Heights, Minn., next Saturday for the ultra-competitive Roy Griak Invitational on the University of Minnesota campus. UMD took second at that event a year ago.
